St Francis’ Catholic Primary School

Station Road, Nailsea BS48 4PD

Deputy Head L6-10
Substantive 1st September 2019

The governors, staff and children wish to appoint a new Deputy Headteacher from September 2019 to help lead the school in the next stage of its development following the promotion of the deputy head to the head teacher role in April 2019. St Francis’ was rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted in 2008/9 and “Outstanding” in its S48 inspection in January 2015.

St Francis is a small, single form entry school (183 pupils) located in the heart of Nailsea and is close to the parish church. The school is a real family community, harmonious and calm, with excellent relationships as evidenced by staff, parents, governors and pupils. We have strong links with our two parish churches, other local schools and with our community. We attract pupils from an increasingly diverse background which benefits the life of the school.

The teaching staff and wider staff team work together to maintain high standards in teaching and learning, achievement and progress to continue to move the school forward. All teachers have subject leadership responsibility and are increasingly involved in monitoring lessons, planning and work in their subjects. Development planning involves all leaders and governors and priorities are led by rigorous self-evaluation, data analysis and external moderation. We have a good mix of experienced and developing teachers.

The governors wish to appoint a new deputy headteacher who will:
• Be a committed and practising Catholic with an active and living faith who can inspire the growth of faith in others
• Provide dedicated support for the Head Teacher in the Catholic and Strategic life of the school, and have a clear understanding of the distinct nature of Catholic leadership
• Be an individual with a proven track record in a leadership position in schools
• Have a strong desire to build and develop the excellence in standards within the school

Visits to the school are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the Office Administrator,
