HEADTEACHER
Start Date: September 2019
Contract Type: Full Time
Salary: L21-L24 – negotiable
Contract term: Permanent

Current roll: 350

Due to the retirement of our current, longstanding and successful Headteacher, St Mary Magdalen’s Junior School seeks to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and committed leader who is passionate about promoting the already excellent standards of teaching and learning at our school.

The report of our recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 maintained our Good rating. This therefore represents an excellent opportunity for a Headteacher to lead, shape and deliver our continuing journey to Outstanding.

St Mary Magdalen’s is a Catholic three-form entry, mixed junior school that has over 350 pupils. Our Catholic faith is an integral part of all aspects of school life. The findings of the Diocesan inspection in June 2018 found the Catholic Life of School to be Outstanding.

We value the strong links we have between home, school and parish. We are ambitious for our children and offer a wealth of opportunities to develop talents and individual personalities within a happy environment. Our children have a voice through the Student Council and help shape decisions.

We are looking for a Headteacher who will:
• Embrace, develop and deepen our Catholic practice, ethos and values as a practising Catholic
• Hold a CCRS
• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour
• Demonstrate a successful record in senior leadership
• Be committed to inclusivity with a track record of raising standards
• Possess a strong ability to support, motivate and inspire staff and to communicate a clear vision for the school
• Display a willingness to be a visible, positive and approachable presence around the school, with the ability to foster strong relationships within the school community

St Mary Magdalen’s offers:
• A welcoming school with children who are well-behaved, confident and eager to learn
• A dedicated and hard-working staff who provide children with a stimulating, challenging and nurturing environment
• A community of staff, parents, governors and children committed to their Catholic faith
• A supportive and committed governing board
• A commitment to your continued professional and personal development
