Founded in 1917, Thornton is the most successful non-selective school in the area with exceptional ‘value-added'. Thornton is a Catholic school with a strong Christian ethos and has an enviable reputation for providing outstanding teaching, strong pastoral care and a challenging and exciting curriculum.

Thornton has grown considerably over the past fifteen years, both in terms of pupil numbers and in facilities and now has over 430 pupils and award-winning new developments. The Trustees and Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding Catholic Headteacher with the inspiration to lead the school and oversee and manage its future development. The Headteacher is expected to provide professional leadership and practical management for the school which secures its success, ensuring high quality education which realises the potential of all pupils.
