The Governing Body of St. James’s Catholic Primary School wish to appoint a
Deputy Head Teacher
Required for September 2018 – L12-L16

The Governors of St. James’s wish to appoint an inspirational, motivated, enthusiastic and organised Deputy Head Teacher who will work alongside the Headteacher. This is a non class based position. The person appointed will contribute to the further development of the school and our aim is to continue to provide outstanding education within a Catholic setting. The school is well known for its strong Catholic ethos. Our children are supported by a team of welcoming, professional and committed staff and a knowledgeable Governing Body, who work together to enable the school to be the best it can – academically and spiritually.

The last Ofsted inspection took place in January 2015. Ofsted states:
"Pupils’ achievement is outstanding. They make outstanding progress in reading, writing and mathematics. By the time pupils leave Year 6, their attainment is significantly above average. Staff set very high standards of behaviour, which are rigorously upheld. Pupils are extremely polite, courteous and respectful. They have a great appetite for learning, and their very strong attitudes to their learning contribute considerably to the outstanding progress they make."

We are looking for a leader who:
• Has a clear vision of Catholic education and can nurture faith and spirituality in others
• Will promote the highest aspirations and expectations of learning and behaviour for all pupils
• Will have highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability to enthuse, guide and empower colleagues and pupils and have a deep understanding of how to identify and develop the potential of others
• Has an up to date knowledge of developments and best practice in education, teaching and learning, assessment and who can inspire and challenge an excellent team
• Will be able to balance empathy, compassion and sensitivity with courage in making pivotal leadership decisions
• Will be an innovator and problem solver.

• Line managing the Assistant Headteachers.
